Functional Pottery
I make about forty different functional pottery items. Each one is special. For example, when I make bowls, they are all diifferent. Perhaps a raised base or flared lip, or indentations in the sides, maybe a carved pattern around the interior -- all sorts of alterations are done to every piece. The essence of what I want to achieve as a potter is to make wonderful and unique pottery; good pots, not fast pots. I want the user of my pottery to be aware that it is handmade and unique. I feel there is too little of this in society today.
